# Replacement Stanchion Base Pads

**[![Replacement pads installed around a Stanchion Masters stanchion base](https://stanchionmasters.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/Stanchion-Masters-stanchion-base-pads-169x300.jpg)](https://stanchionmasters.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/Stanchion-Masters-stanchion-base-pads.jpg)Stanchion Masters® replacement base pads help protect floors, improve base contact and replace worn, damaged or loose pads on compatible stanchion bases.**

These soft, durable adhesive pads are designed specifically for Stanchion Masters® bases. They may also fit certain other stanchion brands that use individual pads underneath a flat metal base, but compatibility must be confirmed before ordering.

## Not Designed for Full-Circumference Rubber Base Rings

Many conventional stanchions use a continuous rubber ring that wraps around the entire circumference of the base. These replacement pads are **not intended for stanchions that use a full-circumference rubber ring, bumper or molded rubber base protector.**

Our pads are intended for compatible bases that use separate adhesive contact pads positioned around the underside of the base.

**Compatibility confirmation is required for other stanchion brands:** Please send a clear photograph of the underside of your current stanchion base before ordering. We need to see the base design, existing pads and available mounting surface.

## Benefits of Stanchion Base Pads

- **Helps protect finished flooring:** Creates a softer contact point between the metal base and the floor.
- **Replaces worn or missing pads:** Restores contact points after original pads loosen, compress or become damaged.
- **Strong adhesive backing:** Designed for secure installation on a properly cleaned and prepared base.
- **Durable pad material:** Tested by Stanchion Masters® on coarse asphalt and concrete surfaces.
- **Simple replacement:** Existing individual pads can usually be removed and replaced with basic tools.

## Designed for Stanchion Masters® Bases

These base pads were selected as part of improvements made to Stanchion Masters® rustic and decorative stanchion bases. They provide a softer contact surface and stronger adhesion than the earlier 4-inch round pads originally used on some systems.

Because base construction varies widely among manufacturers, we cannot guarantee compatibility with another brand based only on the outside base diameter.

### Before Ordering for Another Stanchion Brand

Please provide:

- A clear photograph of the entire underside of the base
- A close-up photograph of the existing pads or rubber ring
- The outside diameter or width of the base
- The approximate width of the flat mounting area underneath the base
- The stanchion brand and model, when known
- The number of stanchions requiring replacement pads

Photographs are especially important because two bases with similar outside dimensions may use completely different underside designs.

## How to Install Replacement Base Pads

- **Protect the stanchion finish.** Place the stanchion on a soft cloth or padded work surface before turning it over.
- **Remove the existing individual pads.** A rigid plastic drywall scraper may help loosen the old pads without scratching the powder-coated base. Do not use a metal scraper against the finish.
- **Remove remaining adhesive.** Make sure old adhesive and debris are removed from the area where the new pads will be installed.
- **Clean the mounting surface.** Wipe the area with rubbing alcohol and allow it to dry completely.
- **Position the new pads.** Install the pads approximately 1/8 inch inside the outer edge of the base.
- **Space the pads evenly.** When installing three pads, distribute them evenly around the circumference of the base.
- **Apply firm pressure.** Press each pad securely into place. A small hand roller may help create consistent contact with the adhesive.
- **Allow the adhesive to bond.** Avoid immediately dragging or heavily loading the stanchion after installation.

## Replacing Earlier 4-Inch Round Pads

Some earlier Stanchion Masters® stanchions were supplied with 4-inch round adhesive pads. Although we did not receive customer complaints, we later found that some of those pads could lose adhesion in extremely high temperatures.

The issue became apparent in our Las Vegas warehouse, where daytime interior temperatures can exceed 120°F. We subsequently changed to the current individual pad design.

If you own Stanchion Masters® posts equipped with the earlier 4-inch round pads and are experiencing adhesion problems, contact us with the number of affected stanchions and photographs of the underside of the bases.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### Will these pads fit any stanchion base?

No. They are designed for Stanchion Masters® bases. They may fit certain other bases, but we must review photographs of the underside before confirming compatibility.

### Will they replace a full rubber ring around my base?

No. These pads are not a replacement for a continuous full-circumference rubber ring, molded bumper or rubber base cover.

### Why do you need a photograph of my base?

Stanchion manufacturers use many different base designs. A photograph allows us to see whether the base has a suitable flat mounting surface and whether it currently uses individual pads or a continuous rubber ring.

### How many pads are installed on each base?

Stanchion Masters® bases generally use three individual pads positioned evenly around the underside. The correct quantity may differ for another base design.

### Can the pads be used on concrete or asphalt?

The pad material has been tested on coarse concrete and asphalt. However, dragging a stanchion across rough surfaces can still wear or damage the pads. Lift and reposition the stanchion whenever practical.

### Do I need to clean the base before installation?

Yes. Old adhesive, dust, oil and residue can interfere with adhesion. The mounting area should be clean, dry and wiped with rubbing alcohol before the new pads are installed.

## Request Replacement Stanchion Base Pads

For Stanchion Masters® posts, provide the number of stanchions requiring new pads and, when possible, a photograph of the underside of one base.

For any other stanchion brand, please send clear photographs before ordering. We will review the base design and advise whether these individual replacement pads appear suitable.

**Do not order these pads for bases that use a full-circumference rubber ring.**

**Call Stanchion Masters® at 702-706-7047 for compatibility assistance, current pricing and availability.**
